State Jewish Theater invites you between 20-27th of November 2016 to The International Yiddish Theater Festival, to celebrate 140 years since the establishment of the first professional Jewish theater in the world, in Romania in 1876 , by writer and artist Avram Goldfaden.
Within The International Yiddish Theater Festival will perform professional Yiddish theater companies from all around the world, Klezmer’s music bands and performers renown worldwide, all meant to bring to the large public’s attention the Yiddish culture in all its aspects.
Also, within The International Yiddish Theater Festival, will be organized and presented a series of dedicated events as movies screenings, books launching, workshops of Yiddish culture, sustained by well known artistic personalities, thematical conferences, but also a special exhibition dedicated to State Jewish Theater’s activity and history.

The International Yiddish Theater Festival is open to the large public (Romanians and also foreigners), from all age categories, in order to open a gate for knowledge, usig specific ways of expression, contributing to the understanding, acceptance and bringing closer different cultures.
By organizing The International Yiddish Theater Festival, State Jewish Theater’s goal is to bring to the public’s attention the unique features of Yiddish culture, by presenting it in the actual cultural context. Also, The International Yiddish Theater Festival aims to increase the desire in making a better intercultural communication, by exchanging experiences with communities that promote Yiddish culture, preserving the Jewish cultural tradition in Romania and passing on the Jewish cultural heritage by artistic ways all around the world.
State Jewish Theater’s main goal is to preserve and to promote the Yiddish theater and language, to propagate and promote Jewish traditions, the knowledge of language and literature, supporting for more than six decades the multiculturalism and multilingualism.
