It is the story of young itinerant Jewish actors from Bessarabia. Fascinated by theater, they leave home travelling all around the world to become famous artists. Life gets them further away (Lvov, Vienna, London) not only from their hometown shetl, but also further away from their past. This is the bitter price of success – giving up to yourself. And while the main characters, Reizl and Leibl, fulfill their drams and artistic destiny, becoming internationally famous, they are surrounded by many artists, whose desires will never accomplish. What is art – an outward running away from life or the chance to reach the stars?
